Most of Bangladeshi people have forgot the name of blogger Nazimuddin and rest are busy with so many other crisis that they don't have time to remember about him who was killed brutally on the road. Government could not do anything and police have failed as always to arrest the main culprits. Ansar Al islam, was previously known as Ansarullah Bangla Team is now much more stronger and well connected. If you read regular news on news paper, it will feel like all those terrorist organisationa and fundamentalist groups are taken down and Bangladesh is safe for free speech. But all these are nothing but propaganda by the government. Sheikh Hasina herself made a deal with these terrorist groups and other Islamists fundamentalist parties that she will keep a blind eye, if we, bloggers, are murdered. As if, we are nothing but an animal which can be sacrificed for political gains.
Still we have not forgot the killings of Ovijit from where it started happenning openly and Ansarullah Bangla Team started to show their power publicly. Later they got connected with Al Qaida and now they are representative of Al Qaida in this region with a new name Ansar Al Islam. Everyone knows what happened after Ovijit. But only thing never bacame a headline properly was the role of sacked Major Zia. Why he is not arrested yet. He is the person at the moment leading the military wing of this terrorist organization. Bangladeshi Police has no clue about him and failed to arrest him. But every time you open a new paper, you will see Police claims them as victorious against terrorism in Bangladesh.
After almost more than 4 years, police has just submitted chargesheet now. Can you believe it? Do you see anyone else getting arrested soon? Does it look like police interested to solve this case at all? I don't see it. These are one of those cases, like other bloggers' murder cases, which will never get solved; as killer Sheikh Hasina does not want these to be solved. All these criminals are well sheltered by political and international terrorists groups. Nazimuddin Samad was a brave blogger of his time to express his feeling. But Bangaldesh which is blinded by religious fundamentalists are not safe place for a person like him. If you remember, two friends were killed by these fundamentalists because they were gay and they were publishing related to their sexual orientation. I am afraid, Bangaldesh and Bangladeshi people are still living in dark age and mentally 1000 years behind than developed countries.
Unless Bangaldeshi people can change their mindset or change their mentality around freedom speech, this country will never be free. And political parties, including religious fundamentalist groups, take these opportunity of public being blinded by religion and kill these bloggers or similar minded people for their own gain. One thing I want to make clear, it is not a particular religion accused of this big problem. It is same for people from all sorts of religions in this part of the world. Still long way to go and I don't see a light at the end of the tunnel yet for Bangladesh; rather I see a dark storm coming towards it as all these terrorist organizations have made Bangladesh as their safe ground now.
